Push Email according to Steve, “it seems is something every man and his dog wants, i.e. emails hitting your smartphone (with a beep) as soon as they’re received into your mailbox. In other words, you don’t have to wait the ten seconds or so to check your mail server when asking for your email in the ‘old fashioned’ way.”
A lot of power users noted when Gmail introduced IMAP support and have configured the native S60 client to automatically push our Gmail into our inboxes. However they are still a lot …

Update: The Firmware is now available.
Norman has just IM’d me saying that the changelog for the upcoming N95-1 Firmware is out. Curiously this one time the changelog is out before the actual firmware itself. Following suit from the N95 8GB, it is a major update that brings Flash Lite 3 support that enables flash video playback from the browser itself; we would finally we able to access over video streaming sites apart from Youtube. Also included is support for widgets.
The N95′s stability should inprove further and the performance aspect should …

In a looking at the future post Stefan from Intomobile discuss the future of mobile handsets, the Internet and what can we expect from the future. He talks of operating systems becoming less and less relevant today as software is moving towards becoming but a mere website inside a browser, yet he goes on to note that the potential of the hardware underneath is this way left unexplored. He also talks of different scenarios tomorrow might throw at us where contact information is transferred in a split second via touch enabled …

The Nseries PC Suite has made it out of Beta and is available for download from the Nseries Support Site. It will now also be shipped with the upcoming Nseries devices. The application was not well received in the beginning however after continous updates it has accquired a decent shape. I personally still prefer the conventional PC Suite however this version does have its share of fans. What do you use and recommend?

I’ve rarely come across a good non Nokia S60 device but the Samsung G810 sure does seem to be one. For starters it is a great looking phone and when I say that I mean it. Pictures below, for more look at this AAS Gallery. Now not only is it beautiful as far a looks are concerned but it should have decent build quality too because of Samsung’s extensive experience with sliders.
The G810 is a quad-band 3G enabled handset with support for 3.6 Mbps HSDPA and runs on v9.2 S60 3rd edition OS. …

In the last few months I have been using quite a a lot of different phones for varying periods of time. Now there are two basic problems with getting a new phone, one the user data such as contacts and calender and two the applications that we might have installed. The first part is taken care of by the Switch application that I have talked of previously; it is the second problem that deserves attention. S60 is a open platform that allows us users to make the phone do much more …

The recent FCC leak of the scaled down N78 that lacks WiFi or 3G has made its user manual available already for anyone who wants a read. Mark from The Nokia Blog has got hold of it and has along with screen grabs explained the process of in built GeoTagging that the N78 will debut.
The process according to him is simple and if the ‘record location’ option is on and a GPS position is acquired, the camera will save the location information within the pictures’ Exif data thus negating the need for any …

Norman has received a pack from WOM World which amongst other things contains a short video highlighting the products/services demoed at the Mobile World Congress. In a whirlwind it will take you to the N96, N78, Ovi, Maps and N-Gage Q&A’s plus a few pictures of the event and of us bloggers who were there too!

The maps upgrade was really a job well done and Ovi too is a great concept, something about which I will be writing in detail soon. My thoughts on the N96 and N78 …

Christian Titze over at SymbianWorld had sent his faulty N95 to the Nokia Service center due the slide being buggy and has received it back, fixed by a new slide mechanism. After the numerous complaints Nokia has probably overhauled the design a little bit and as he reports it is now rock solid. Apparently the current batch of phones should already come with a better slider and for the rest of us I think it time to pay our local Nokia Service centers a visit!
