Nokia Pilots Makes Me Jump With Joy

When word of the Nokia Pilots program first came out, I skipped writing about it for the simple reason that we didn’t know what it was going to be. Was it merely going to be access to alpha applications or was it going to be much more, the stuff of our dreams?

But having read this post by Mikko Lintunen of Nokia Pilots on the Beta Labs pages , I write this post as a Nokia fanboy who’s long time dream has just come true. Nokia Pilots is going to be big, selected ‘Pilots’ will have access to the latest concept devices that may only exist as protypes as well as trialling latest services and software. Stuff, that has NOT been publicly announced.

Nokia Pilots program offers an opportunity to be involved in the design, development and/or testing phases of concepts, products and/or services – as a Nokia Pilot, you may get a chance to see the latest products and services before anyone else.

Having said that, there is a need to restrict the access to this type of material and content. Thus, we require in some cases non-disclosure agreements (NDA’s) with Nokia Pilots.

The last few lines of the above quote have got me all excited and wanting to go out right now and get a nice expensive pen for that signature. This is your chance to be a part of the company that is revolutionising the way business is done, never has a company been so open and in sync with its target audience. We have all read about how Nokia has the best blogger relations program, but this is taking it one step further – to anyone who cares.

If you’ve been living under a rock and don’t quite know what Nokia Pilots is, get acquainted here . The registrations will open in September and will most likely be country based, as will be the entire program on some level. So my guess is if Nokia has a research facility in your country, you will have a slight advantage. Once registered, Pilots will be pre-screened with an automatic search algorithm for various projects based on their selected fields of interest, regular Beta Labs contributors will have edge though.

I personally can’t wait to sign my first NDA and get cracking at a proto device, what are you looking forward to?

  1. Nokia is ok globally, but in the US, they don’t take us seriously. I will stop supporting Nokia this winter if they continue to only support one US carrier.
