Would you believe it! Nokia has actually gone ahead and released an official fix for the ‘Curse Of Silence’ bug that F-Secure had brought to light. The fix is in a form of a .sis file that can be installed on the phone and simply executed once to ‘cure’ a phone that has been a victim of the so called exploit.
If you don’t remember/know, this phrase refers to the ability of a attacker to disable the messaging capabilities on Nokia’s S60 3rd Edition devices (both inital and FP1), by sending …

Sittiphol Phanvilai’s MobiTubia, probably the best full-function YouTube application has been updated to v1.85 Build 1 Beta. With the update comes compatibility with the Nokia N96 and this should also mean that the application has become compatible with other FP2 devices like the N85.
The application also serves as a very capable .FLV file player that allows for controls such as rewind, fast forward and so on that the inbuilt flash player cannot provide. With the latest version, the resolution limitations while playing FLV is history but hi-res files may cause …

Following on from the Nokia N78, this time its the N82′s turn to receive a firmware update. The v31.0.016 weighs in at 118MB and is available via the NSU for most generic product codes. Although the N82 supports user data preservation, it is best to backup and then give it a go.
The update contains no major changes and probably just brings bug fixes. Right after the update Steve seems to be having some problems with his N82 while others haven’t experienced any issues, so you might want to wait before …

Just in time for a Mobile World Congress announcement, Nokia is readying its line up of QWERTY phones and from the looks of things, the yet unannounced E75 and the 5730 Xpress Music seem like bestsellers. The E75 is shaped on the E51 lines and packs a side slideout QWERTY keyboard. The 5730 on the other will be a relatively cheap (€220) music & text centric device and has already been extensively previewed by Mobile-Review.
So including the N97, that’s three QWERTY phones to look forward to – each in …
