Following on from yesterday’s post about the new home screen widgets on the N97, comes this screenshot which I’m sure will interest you all. There you have it, the N97 on Forum Nokia’s RDA which is a proto device running v10 firmware has 52MB+ free RAM on bootup.
The debate over whether its enough will continue, but I’d like to mention just one thing – this is slightly more than what we had on a production Nokia 5800. Since the above is from a proto N97, please take the figures with …

This is one rumour I can’t pass up, specially when it comes from trusted Russian insider Eldar Murtazin. According to the rumour, Nokia is apparently prepping a variant/upgrade to the E71 – the E71i which will feature a 5MP camera along with FP2. There is no word on whether it will be blessed with a 3.5mm jack as well.
The announcement is expected to be around September, probably Nokia World and the handset is suppossed to come out in Brown/Mocha.

One of the most awaited aspects of the upcoming N97 is the widgets on its home screen. Although I till date have not been able to get physical access to the N97, I was fortunate enough to spend some time with the N97 – virtually, through Forum Nokia’s RDA.
Based on that play, I will be bringing you some of my observations about the nice and not so nice implementations on the N97. Lets start with a home screen walkthrough. Depending on your region, the N97 will come preloaded with a …

Today seems to be all about the N97. After news about it being available on Forum Nokia’s RDA, come two video samples taken in the scenic Monte Carlo. The videos are from a pre production N97 and are shot by Bill Perry, Sr. Services Marketing Manager for Forum Nokia.
This short video showing a very nice sailboat in the Monte Carlo marina was shot using a pre-production Nokia N97. Notice you can hear the ropes creaking as the sailboat moves with the tide.
In this 30 second clip I’m panning the camera …

What should come as great news for all those of you waiting to get your hands on the N97, you can now do so – at least virtually. After the N86 8MP and other new Nokia devices, the N97 is now available for you to play with, provided you are a Forum Nokia member.
On the RDA you can explore the device, install applications and so on. If you are already a member, hit this link and go for it. If not sign up here. There’s already quite a bit of …

Since the day Forum Nokia divulged details about what was going to power the Nokia N97, the world seems to have gone into a tizz. The N97 is getting lambasted left, right and center – all of this based sorely on speculation. Yes, the N97 has a somewhat outdated ARM11 CPU with a clock speed of 434MHz but does that really take the device out of contention?
The N96 was virtually unusable before the version 12 firmware, but a mere firmware update changed that to a considerable extent. Similarly, on a …

A couple of N86 niceties have popped up over at the S60 Blog, first one is the dynamic kickstand that was also covered by Ricky the other day and the new refreshed screensaver. The kickstand on the N86, unlike the one on the N96 can trigger an application launch when pulled out and this is something incredibly useful, a physical shortcut is always more than welcome. Have a look at this for the options.
Next up is the new futuristic looking screensaver that will include details like battery and missed call/SMS …

Nokia Ireland has started an interesting new promotion called ‘Nokia Superfans’, a competition centered around the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. What you have to do in order to win isn’t quite clear at the moment, but the webpage promises an email containing the first mission, should you choose to accept!
We’re not looking for someone with a weird costume, superhuman strength or a Bat Cave. We’re looking …
