One day before the first firmware update is suppossed to come out for the N97, the changelog for v11 is already out. As expected, the update brings loads of bug fixes and nothing more. This update should enable the N97 to function without crashes and improve stability.
Major fixes include more stable USB charging, new facebook widget and a fix for the forced number input in it, along with general widget stability. The UI should be much faster and responsive now, transitions should be faster too. Nokia has also apparently tried to fix the lock/unlock …

Having used the N97 for a few days now, I have come to the conclusion that the N97 has huge potential. Nokia has done a good job putting all the hardware in, (the RAM and processor groans aside) what actually needs some work is the software.
In this post I will not be crying about the initial the firmware that Nokia has shipped the device with, but look at certain software tweaks that can help improve the N97 experience to a very large extent …

I am pleased to inform you that my favourite VOIP company Truphone has just announced the addition of 11 new Nokia S60 devices to its compatibility list. The application is now supported on 26 Nokia phones including FP2 devices and even the 5800 Xpress Music which runs S60 5th Edition.
Sadly, since Nokia had taken out the SIP stack on certain FP2 devices not all of them are VOIP capable, but within your home country you should still be able to use Truphone’s Anywhere plan. Here is how it works:
International calls …

The Nokia N97 on the RDA has been updated to v11.0.021 and that means that this new firmware should be making its way across to devices already in the wild very soon. The update should hopefully make the N97 more stable and fix quite a few bugs that currently plague the N97.
I would really like to see more free RAM, the ability to long press to get numbers from the keyboard, improvements to the predictive text and a fix for the screen not illuminating after unlocking the device bug. The …

I have been using the N97 for over a day now and for the first 12 hours I decided to use the phone with the predictive text turned off. However after turning it on I have found my typing experience to have improved to a large extent. This will not be a review of the keyboard as I want give myself a little more time with it before I make a call. Instead this is a simple tip which might just make your experience better if you’re not already using …

The N97 is finally in stock across Nokia stores in India and I am pleased to finally present to you the unboxing pictures and video of my very own N97. I have already shared my initial impressions about the device where I told you that I was sold on the black and I am thrilled to report that the review device I have is black as well.
My box seems to be missing the wonderful charging adapter which can convert the usual Nokia chargers (both the old and the new) to …
