I have some great news for those of you who will be buying a N97 in India. The device will literally come ‘loaded’ with content – loads of applications, games, widgets and even some videos; read on for the complete list below. A large part of these were  developed in India and will be exclusive to N97′s being sold in India. They however should be made available via the Ovi Store (possibly as paid content) to those of you in other regions.

APPLICATIONSAccording to what I know, the following applications will come pre-loaded.

  • Wavesecure: To track, lock, backup and wipeout your device. You can even restore data via the internet. Quite similar to the new Apple offering.
  • Keypad Lock: This application will appear everytime the keypad is locked. To unlock the device you will be able to simply drag your finger across the screen. There will be four screens available – Leaf, Nature, Curtain and Snow.

  • System Status: A task manager with the ability to show battery and signal strength, Memory & RAM availability and close/kill applications.
  • Other notable applications include Newshunt, a newspaper app with access to 15 Indian dailies in 9 Indian languages and Smart Guard, an application to protect/hide data such as contacts, messages and files/images.

VIDEO - It will pack 6 thirty minute episodes of ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi‘.

WIDGETSAs far as Widgets go, there will be the usual Accuweather, Amazon, Facebook, Reuters, YouTube, Hi5 and Ovi. But when it comes to localised widgets, they are quite a number, you will have to see for yourself in the list below. The list is quite impressive with entries such as CNBC and Rediff Money for stock updates, Book My Show for movies,  India Today and NDTV active for news, a Soccer widget and even a translator.

After going through all of this, I’m sure you will appreciate the sheer volume of the content. Deciding on the 5 widgets on my homescreen will surely be tough! Nokia India has gone a great job getting all of this together, now they just need to hurry up and make the device available.

  • Vaibhav Sharma (author) said:

Amit, I doubt any of these will work properly on the E71 as they are S60 5th Edition optimised.
