After a mention of the N97 Mini on Vodafone Ireland’s official forums the rumour mill has been abuzz with activity about a possible N97 Mini, however until today we hadn’t seen a picture/mockup that seemed even a little convincing.
Enter these images that are either the work of a very talented photoshop expert or infact real. From what we can see, the N97 Mini has a smaller build, a 3.2″ touchscreen, no camera lens cover, no D-pad but dedicated arrow keys …

The Nokia 5800 has received yet another update in the form of the v30.0.011 firmware. The update helps improve the speed and responsiveness of the device and free up some more RAM for some multitasking goodness. The one things that it adds is a email shortcut on the homescreen for quick access to your email.
The firmware is available via the Nokia Software Updater (NSU), and is slowly making its way over the air (OTA) as well. If you do not find the update, it means that its not available for …

I am currently in Dubai and the first roadblock that I hit when I landed here was the sheer ammount of blocked websites on the internet. I could not open ‘Truphone‘ from my mobile to recharge my account, then I couldn’t log into ‘Orkut‘ to connect with friends and this list increased with time as I tried more and more websites.
Needless to say this was unacceptable and since most proxy websites and servers are blocked too it quickly became a pain. Then I hit on the idea of using proxy …

Last week I was invited to a Q&A about PEIR, Nokia’s latest environmental initiative. PEIR, the Personal Environmental Impact Report, is a new kind of online tool that allows you to use your mobile phone to explore and share how you impact the environment and how the environment impacts you. Currently in its trial phase, PEIR was born out of a research collaboration project by the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Nokia Research Center (NRC) Palo Alto.

Last week saw Nokia announce the ‘Surge’ for the American markets, this week they have spruced up the Surge and unveiled it under the name Nokia 6760. It features the same design of its US sibling that many hated (I didn’t) but comes with a 3.2 MP camera instead of the 2MP and also features a slightly longer standby and talk time.
The keyboard on that things looks really nice and at €199 Nokia sure seems to have hit a sweet spot, add to that a very good battery …

Another rumour that should get 5800 Xpress Music owners into high spirits has originated out of a meet and greet Nokia Malaysia reportedly held to get feedback from 5800 users and showcase the 5530.
Nokia is apparently working on a new firmware for the 5800 which should bring kinetic scrolling, an enhanced homescreen, improvements in camera performance and general stability. They are also trying to make the device faster.
A v31 firmware has long been suspected after a screenshot leaked out in a Nokia presentation, may be this could be it. But …

Nokia’s Nseries and Eseries have arguably been the most successful mobile branding exercises ever, but Nseries is quickly running out of numbers and just when we all were wondering what would be next, this interesting information has popped up.
According to a Finnish trademark website Puhelinvertailu, Nokia has trademarked the word ‘Cseries’. Meanwhile, Digitoday has discovered a new lineup of devices called ‘Xseries’ on OAMI’s (The Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market) website.

Nokia has finally once again made the N-Gage application available for the Nokia N97. The N-Gage client is available via the ‘SW Update’ application and is a 6MB download (6144 KB). However, that’s not all, along comes an update for Nokia Maps in the form of Maps 3.1 and an optimizer for the phone memory.
I am specially pleased to see the phone memory optimiser, it is a sign that Nokia accepts its mistakes and tries to rectify them rather than turn a blind eye. You can also check out …
