The Maemo Summit Is Now Underway

The three day Maemo Summit is now underway in Amsterdam, the Maemo Summit 2009 is the second, annual get-together of the Maemo Community. Technology enthusiasts, apps developers, and platform developers meet to network, share their latest innovation, learn about future trends and just have fun. The summit will revolve around one Nokia day (today) and two community days where you can expect application demoes and other development related stories.

Video: Flash 10.1 On The N900

At MAX 2009, Adobe showcased Flash 10.1, the version of flash that will work across smartphones, netbooks and mobile devices. The good thing about it is that it promises the exact same performance and functionality whether you are on a full fleged computer or a mobile device. Kevin Lynch, Adobe CTO, demoed Flash Player 10.1 on a number of devices starting with the N900 and the thing to notice was that how well the N900 performed.

Nokia Conversations ran a post yesterday asking the community as to what you they like Nokia to do with the N900 and within a day they had over 80 idea. What they did next was even better. They have put together the best ideas in a poll which you can vote on and if you think you have something better to say, you can even add your wish to it.

Download Page For Maemo 5 Applications Now Online

With the N900 release just around the corner, the Maemo.org download page for Maemo 5 applications has just gone online. As you can see from the repetitions in the names of the apps below, the catalogue is currently thin with the total number of applications listed being only 9.

Nokia’s Imaging Satellite Launch Tomorrow

Boeing will launch Digital Globe’s WorldView-2 satellite tomorrow i.e. Thursday 8th October in California. WorldView-2 is the first high-resolution 8-band multispectral satellite commercially available. The new bands support greater levels of feature identification and extraction, more accurate change detection, and a realistic mirror image of the world’s natural colors.
