Pinch To Zoom Demoed On The Nokia N8

One new functionality that Symbian ^3 brings to the N8 is multitouch; so far we have seen very little of how well it actually works on the N8, so much so that even the official promo videos did not show it off much.
But as is usually the case, a video of an N8 in the wild has popped up showing how well the functionality works. The auto rotation of the web browser seems to be disabled but You should still be able to make out the smooth zoom.

There is still …

The world has been waiting for the Hong Kong launch of the N900 for the simple reason that it was pimped to be the first region in the world to get N900′s preloaded with the mythical PR 1.2 firmware which users in others parts of the world have been waiting for it like CRAZY.

Nokia Launches Ovi Music Unlimited In India

Today at the fourth Nokia Strategy Summit, Ovi Music Unlimited was finally unveiled in India. Ovi Music Unlimited is an alias for the ‘Comes With Music’ tagline that Nokia uses in other countries. The reason for a separate branding is because the service has been highly customised to suit the Indian market.

The service has, for example, reduced the size of the Ovi Music client from 60 MB to 3MB to make it easier to download, next users can also search for music by the names of actors, actresses, …

Everything You Wanted To Know About The N8

I have just finished a Q&A with Esa (the N8 product manager), Maija and Aapo of Nokia along with a bunch of other bloggers and have quite a few interesting bits of knowledge about the N8 for you.

The vibe that I got from this Q&A was that the N8 is still being worked upon and we might see a few surprises when it comes out or even later via a firmware update. Instead of the usual denial that such and such functionality will not be present in the N8, we got a more encouraging …

The N8 Brings USB Reading Capabilities To Symbian – Something I Have Wanted For Ages

The one thing that I have always wanted on my smartphone was the ability to transfer data off my flash drive/portable hard disk without having to use a computer. Infact, I wrote a post way back in April 2008, requesting it. Come 2010 and my request has finally been heeded to – the N8 supports USB On-the-go.

This means that you can plug in any USB stick/hard drive into the adapter that comes with the N8, connect it to the device and transfer data on the go without needing a PC. …

Thoughts: Nokia Hits The Sweet Spot With The N8′s Specs & Price

Nokia today finally announced the much leaked Nokia N8, its first Symbian ^3 12 Megapixel Pixel touch device and instead of dishing out the press release to you, I decided on looking into it a little more before making up my mind and bringing you my thoughts.

The N8 brings quite a lot of first’s for Nokia including …

Sample Images From The N8′s Camera

Nokia has just announced its first 12 Megapixel Camera with a Xenon flash and 720p HD video recording and it promises to be a winner. While its actual availability is still months away, a few untouched images from its camera have popped up. Needless to say, they look amazing.

The best part is that the firmware is still being worked on and we can expect the quality to improve further. What do you think? I’d like to see the Xenon in action, and low lights shots too, specially because of Nokia’s claim of also putting a very large sensor inside …

First Look At The Nokia 5233

In recent times devices from manufacturers like Samsung (with their Corby range) and other small companies have been doing really well in the low-mid tier market. Nokia has bled heavily there as they did not cash in on the touch boom that came around the 8-10 thousand Rupee price bracket. They have woken up recently with the Cseries and devices like the 5233 and today we will be looking at the 5233 specifically.

The Nokia 5233 is device targeted towards the semi tech savvy population that wants to get on the …
