The Bellagio Fountains Captured On A Nokia N8

Over the last few days I have been traveling around the United States with the N8 in my pocket as my primary camera. I do also have a DSLR in my bag, but I have realised that I only use it for something exceptional that I want to capture. If there is enough day light, I have mostly preferred to use the N8, because its faster, easier and most importantly has the ability to share instantly.

While in Las Vegas, I was able to capture some beautiful footage of the …

Angry Birds On A 15 Storey Building At The #NokiaConnects SXSW Party

Nokia promised something big with Angry Birds and they delivered! At the #NokiaConnects SXSW party in Austin, Texas they showed of a very slick Angry Birds video on a 20 storey building. The only adjectives I would use to describe it are awesome, wicked and super cool. Considering the size of the high-rise, half of Austin saw it. You should see it too.

I was fortunately there to see it happen and could record my own version on the N8, so if you want a different camera angle, here’s one.

This is …

An intriguing little promo has just gone only on WOM World Nokia‘s YouTube Channel & the Nseries blog point to something ‘big’ that’s happening on March 12 & 15 at SXSW, here in Austin, Texas.

As you can see from the trailer, Rovio Mobile, the makers of Angry Birds are clearly involved, but very little hints are given as to what is really going down at 9 PM on the 12th and 15th of this month. All we know is the date, time and the venue (The Belmont Stage) .
In other …

Registrations For The MeeGo Conference In May Now Open

I have great delight in telling you that registrations and calls for proposals for the Spring 2011 MeeGo Conference, scheduled for May 23-25 in San Francisco, are now open. As opposed to the developer focused conference that happened in Dublin last year, the San Francisco conference will be more focused on the industry and not just on the developers.

The hosts are encouraging everyone from application developers to platform designers, hardware vendors to open source enthusiasts, anyone engaged in MeeGo is invited to contribute and participate in the Call …

A Developer Edition Of MeeGo Is Coming To The Nokia N900

Its been possible to run MeeGo on the Nokia N900 for sometime now, but the use case has been limited to a proof of concept instead of giving the users a workable solution that will let them use the N900 as a primary phone, while it is running MeeGo. But fortunately, a developer edition of MeeGo has just been announced for the N900 with the aim of making the N900 ‘usable as a primary phone device for a developer/hacker person’.

The developer edition will be based on MeeGo 1.2 trunk …

According to the Finnish site, Taloussanomat, Nokia is offering its in-house MeeGo devs a salary plus 50% bonus to continue with the company and help avoid a mass exodus after the Feb 11 announcement that Nokia was moving to Windows Phone as its primary operating system.

Malware On The Android Market: Roots Your Phone, Steals Your Data & Leaves A Backdoor Open

It appears that the shit just hit the fan as far as malware for Android is concerned. Redditor lompolo has found that someone has taken 21 popular free apps from the market, injected root exploits into them and republished. What makes it even more alarming is that those apps have accounted for a total of 50k-200k downloads in just 4 days.

The good news is that Google pulled the apps within 5 minutes of being made aware of it. Android Police, based on their own investigation, suggests that the …

Google Apps Browser From The Makers Of Pixelpipe

Google has great looking web versions of its popular apps like Gmail, Calendar, Reader etc. The problem with accessing them from a Symbian device is that because of its default browser we are still presented with the much older, non finger optimized versions of these applications.
The smart folks at Pixelpipe, out favourite sharing service, realised this and have been working on a dedicated QtWebKit application called ‘Google Apps Browser’ that’s optimized for accessing multiple Google apps. The app is in closed beta for now, but they …

Nokia E7 Unboxing & Hands On

The Nokia E7 is one device that feels absolutely great in the hand, it is built like a tank, feels a little heavy in a good way. You actually feel as if you are carrying an impressive piece of technology along.

At Nokia India’s E7 event, we got to to play with a bunch of E7′s and I must say they even felt better than the first time I had played with one at Nokia World.
