While Symbian Belle and the trio of new Nokia devices is the major story today, Nokia has also announced a premium NFC capable noise cancelling, in-ear type Bluetooth headset called the Nokia Essence. The Essence is Nokia’s highest performance in-ear headset to date that features a very impressive 99 per cent noise cancellation, all in a very small package.
The Nokia Essence comes with four professionally selected and tuned music response profiles:
- Concert hall as default music response
- Bass Boost: Boosts lowest frequencies for ultimate dynamic bass detail
- Treble Boost: This is what you hear when listening in the sweet spot to a pair of highly directional electrostatic loudspeakers.
- Treble Boost + Bass Boost: A combination of the transparency of electrostatic loudspeakers combined with highly dynamic low frequency reproduction typical of reference-level multicabinet subwoofer systems.
You can start using the headset by simply tapping it with your NFC capable devices, another tap disconnects in. Alternatively, you can also pair it with other laptops, phones etc in the traditional way. The headset weighs 32g and is 58.9 mm x 31.6 mm x 15.7 mm in size. It has a maximum operating time of 8 hours and can be charged in 45 minutes.
Nokia makes great stereo headsets and the BH-905i is a huge testament to that. This is why I am really looking forward to the Nokia Essence (also known as the BH-610), when it ships in October. It will retail at a slightly pricey Euro 129, but I have a feeling it will be well worth the investment.
