Dear Vaibhav,

I have always enjoyed your tech posts and this is no exception.

I absolutely see your "predicament". I holding out for the new MacBook Pros and I am considering the new iPad. Despite the entry of devices like the HTC One X and Samsung's next iteration of the flagship Galaxy series, I am still holding out for the next iPhone.

The openness of devices is often used as a selling point (Android ecosystem) but the the lack of coherence is irksome.

At the end of the day, being in the Zen-garden of Apple isn't too bad an experience. I think some degree of ignorance is bliss.

Hey you can blinker yourself to current developments on non apple world if you want, let the rest of us enjoy what Microsoft have to offer.
Id rather they take their time to build something great, than rush it out to please impatient people.

Good luck with your decision just refrain from the arrogance and jerkdom that come with it. Leave the rest of us non apples in peace.

Strange, i use wireless sync and media streaming from and to my wp7 every day. Maybe you should re-check the non Apple world with current hard- and software. I know quite a few people who recently bought a mac and are so happy because everything is so fast and good looking. Sure, when you come from a 6 year old PC full of rubbish, which was cheap and already outdated the day they bought it, this is no wonder.

The thin Macbook Pro is what I'm after too, but more than thinness, I need a retina display touting MacBook Pro. Plus, I want to resist the new iPad, but the moment I play with one, I'm fairly certain I'll be sold. So there's that. Windows 8 tablets won't be a decent option until the middle of next year, the ecosystem and apps will need time.

The iPhone 5 is something I will consider, but I do want a larger screen.

Overall, what I'm most amazed by is the fact that Apple has gone from being this company that made expensive products to a premium yet reasonably priced manufacturer. The other plays are finding it hard to beat the iPad's price point and the Macbook Airs are sometimes cheaper than the new Ultrabooks.

nice post. I never owned a Mac before 2008. Bought a Macbook in 2008 and then a Pro in 2009 , the iPhone 4 in 2010 and the Air , Apple TV and iPad 2 in 2011.

My next targets are the iMac and the Apple Display and may be the rumoured ultra-thin Macbook Pro. Wait I'm also waiting for the iPhone 5 :)

After using Macs I refuse to even consider the fact that Windows Laptops exist. The Asus Zenbook is an exception.

After using the iPad, other tablets don't seem attractive.

Windows 8 can definitely alter this situation, but they have to deliver soon.

On the mobile front, the iPhone is great at somethings but does have some short comings . It's not the perfect phone but the experience is almost perfect.

Wish Apple took markets like India more seriously !
