We are all waiting for the big PR 2.0 release for Symbian^3 devices that will bring split screen text input, a new browser and a bunch of other improvements. What makes everyone curious is what would the changes look like, well, here is what they could look like. The following video was uploaded two months ago, so it is quite possible that the layout of the keyboard has changed and the browser might look a little different, but for curiosity’s sake:
The above screen grabs are from the following video, which also shows the new drag-able homescreens which look much more fluid.
We have known that Nokia’s been working on a new Web Browser for a long time now, but without any indication of how it was coming along, until today. A video’s just popped up courtesy My Nokia Blog, that shows off the new web browser and the improvements to the N8’s homescreen. The flicking between homescreens is smooth and there is now a drag effect giving you a faster, smoother feel.
The web browser does look like a huge step in the right direction. The bottom menu bar is history, the address bar that doubles as the search bar is at the top, both the screen and the keyboard are visible as you type in addition to other UI changes. See for yourself.
I personally cannot wait for the browser to hit beta labs now and I have a feeling it is soon, within weeks.
