Last week we told you that updates were coming to older S60 v3 and v5 devices, and the rollout has started. The Nokia E72 and E52 have received the new browser, emoticons, updates maps and performance improvements in the form of the v71.004 firmware, while the N97 Mini gets the same benefits with the v30.0.004 firmware.
The Nokia 5230, 5235, 5238 have also been updated to v50.6.001, v50.8.001 & v50.9.002 respectively. To check for updates, you can hit *#0000# in the dial pad and then goto options and check for updates. If you see the update, you can immediately download and install over the air. Alternately, you can connect to the computer and use the Ovi Suite or the separate Nokia Software Updater app to install the new firmware.
The devices feature user data preservation, so your data should be safe, but its always best to take a backup before proceeding, the OTA update is a little over 16 MB in size. For the full list of devices getting the update, look here.
