Nokia Announces Funding For Four Infotainment Applications – Invites More Entries For The Next Phase

As part of the $10 million Open Screen Project Fund, Nokia has announced funding for four infotainment applications viz., Bollywood Hungama, Eros Bollywood, India Today and Aaj Tak Videos, created by Indian developer companies.

The applications were selected through a stringent short listing process, from over 900 entries submitted from over 60 countries and will be available to consumers across the world through the Ovi Store later this month. So as not to dishearten the other developers who did not make it, Nokia further invited companies of all sizes to submit their entries to the Fund for the next phase.

Nokia Announces Funding For Five Infotainment Applications – Invites More Entries For The Next Phase

The Open Screen Project Fund is a $10 million market development fund designed to accelerate the creation of applications, content and services that leverage the Adobe Flash Platform and run across mobile, desktop and consumer electronics handsets. Nokia and Adobe are the first contributors to the fund.

If you are a developer, here are few pointers to help you apply:

  • Visit http://www.openscreenproject.org/developers/get_started.html or http://openscreen.forum.nokia.com
  • Complete simple online form– one form per submission.
  • Submissions will be reviewed by Adobe and Nokia every two weeks and the best part is that there are no geographical limitations.
  • Submission must be made in English, though final app may be localised as long as it has an English UI variant.
  • If localisation would be needed to produce an English UI variant, you can go ahead and include that request in the submission.
  • Feedback from judging panel to applicants within 28 days.
  • Winners to be awarded funding in amounts that will vary by project.
