Major Software Update For The Nokia N9 Now Available

A major update has just been rolled out for the Nokia N9 in the form of version 20.2011.40-4. The update is 218.6 MB in size and can be installed over the air. It brings music controls to the lockscreen, improved multitasking and NFC Tag reading amongst other things. Another major reason to update is the presence of Swype, which you can enable it by going into Settings> Time and Language> Text Input.

Along with the update, a bunch of pre-loaded applications including Twitter, Facebook, Store, Ovi Music, Galaxy on Fire 2, Nokia Drive, Angry Birds, AccuWeather, NFS Shift, Real Golf 2011 and the User Guide have also been updated.

Major Software Update For The Nokia N9 Now Available, Built In Apps Also Get Bumped Up

It is possible that the update isn’t available for all product codes just yet. But if your device hasn’t informed you of the updated already, you can go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Updates and check for updates manually.

The updated Twitter application should bring the ability to Twitpic images, something we have missed since the start. The Facebook client gets a few bug fixes too.

Nokia N9 PR 1.1 Update

Once downloaded, the update seems to take a while to install so make sure you have enough free time before you begin the update.

  2. It’s the era of the smartphone and everybody owns one. And in case you do not own one, you surely want one. They’re sleek, they’re efficient and they’re super fun to use. If you just want to flash a sexy looking smartphone, or you actually need one for work purposes, or even if you’re looking for an all-in-one gadget, a smartphone is the answer to all. One can play games, take pictures, listen to music, indulge in social-networking, stay updated online, get tonnes of interesting apps, and a host of other things can be done on a smartphone. Today almost all the leading brands are offering a variety of smartphones in the market. It could be a daunting task for anyone to choose a suitable phone from the plethora of options available. I am here to talk about a few options available from Nokia.
The phones I am going to be writing about range from the mid to high level segment. These phones will cater to all sorts of consumers, from the very casual one to the serious gamer to a complete phone geek. All these come with standard features like an 8 MP camera (at least), HD video recording, a secondary front facing camera, 3G capability, a minimum of 8 GB of internal storage (except for the Nokia C6-01), USB 2.0 support, practically unlimited phonebook entries, among other functions. And it’s naturally understood that all these phones touchscreens.
The latest on offer by Nokia is their new Nokia 701. It’s a power-packed phone which is bound get those Nokia fanatics excited. It comes preloaded with the all new Symbian Belle OS, a 1 GHz processor and a 3D graphics hardware accelerator which will change the way you’ve played games. It’s got a nice 3.5 inch TFT screen, which is the brightest display ever on any Nokia phone, to give you that amazing visual experience you’ve always looked for on a phone.
The Nokia N8, which was released a while back, is for those hardcore photographers out there. It comes with a 12 MP camera, a Carl Zeiss lens and a Xenon flash. The HD video recording on this phone will keep you hooked on to making videos wherever you go. It has the Symbian^3 OS, which is upgradable to Symbian Anna OS, which in turn is upgradable to the Symbian Belle OS.
The Nokia C6-01, C7 and the E6 are three other phones on offer, which are somewhat similar in nature, with slight differences. The E6 comes with a preloaded Symbian Anna OS which is directly upgradable to the Symbian Belle OS. The others can, as has been mentioned, still be ungraded to a Symbian Belle OS. Though one way in which the Nokia C6-01 lags, is the fact that it has a slightly low internal memory with 340 MB, but it is upgradable to 32 GB through microSD cards.
The two phones which stand out in one particular department are the Nokia 701 and the Nokia C7. Both of these are NFC enabled phones, which could be quite advantageous, as NFC is being touted as the next best thing in mobile technology. NFC, Near Field Communication, is a technology which is being implanted in a lot of upcoming smartphones by all leading brands. It is bound to change the way we transact or communicate, but without getting into exact details about NFC, let me just say that you will be a step ahead with an NFC smartphone at your disposal.
There are still a lot of other smartphones available in the market today, but this list should still clear a lot of doubts, ease your research process and give you an idea about the Nokia smartphones which you could consider buying.
