Yesterday, the support pages went up and today we have unboxing pictures of the Nokia N86. There is has been no official confirmation of whether Nokia’s upcoming imaging flagship the N86 8MP is shipping, but these pictures mean that it is definitely close.
f you have been living under a rock, the N86 packs a 8 megapixel camera with a 28mm wide-angle Carl Zeiss lens, mechanical shutter and variable aperture. The ‘now’ usual Nseries standard functionality like WiFi, GPS, an FM Transmitter, a 3.5mm jack and so on are also present. Enjoy the pictures.

In the anticipation and excitement of the Nokia N97, we seemed to have forgotten Nokia’s upcoming imaging flagship – the 8 MP touting N86. But there’s good news for those of you holding out for the N86, the biggest indicator of a device being close to shipping is here, the support pages are now up on the Nokia Europe website.
That also means that you can get hold of the user manual now. Direct link to the English version here.
A couple of N86 niceties have popped up over at the S60 Blog, first one is the dynamic kickstand that was also covered by Ricky the other day and the new refreshed screensaver. The kickstand on the N86, unlike the one on the N96 can trigger an application launch when pulled out and this is something incredibly useful, a physical shortcut is always more than welcome. Have a look at this for the options.
Next up is the new futuristic looking screensaver that will include details like battery and missed call/SMS notifications. Another thing to note here is that the screensaver is in the landscape mode and not the usual portrait that we are accustomed to. I hope we have an option to set it to portrait as well.
The N86 despite being a refresh of the N85 is seriously tempting me, just because of the camera. On a recent trip abroad, I somehow didn’t find the 5MP camera of the N82 enough and saw myself picking up a digi cam on most occassions. This is in stark contrast to the situation one year back when I was pretty satisfied with the same device. I want to get rid of my digi cam, can the N86 8MP make than happen?
The russian site Mobile-Review is at it again. This time they have managed to preview the Nokia N86, the post contains sample images from the N86’s camera and also two video samples. The images look great although there are not many low light shots in the picture set.
A PANORAMIC SHOT
The preview also contains some interesting titbits such as the fact that the Nokia N86 was referred to as the N85 8MP before it was decided that a new index would be better. Jump over for many more images and the preview.
The Mobile World Congress saw Nokia release not two, not four by five new S60 devices. We have all seen pictures, videos and basic specifications of the N86, E55, E75, 6710 Navigator and the 6720 Classic but the real geeks and S60 enthusiasts are always interested in the insides of the device, what processor the phone runs, supported Bluetooth profiles and so on.
For those of you Forum Nokia has published the technical specifications of all the above mentioned devices. The interesting thing to note here is that Nokia has slowly moved away from the standard 369MHz processors to the 600 MHZ ones on the E55, 6710 and 6720 with the exception of the E75 which still runs on 369MHz.
After the Nokia E75, it is now time of the Nokia N86 to be demoed in video. The N86 is Nokia’s latest imaging flagship that boasts of a 8MP camera and a 3rd generation dual LED flash. The USP of the camera is the presence of a wide-angle Carl Zeiss Tessar lens for panoramic pictures, shorter latencies and variable aperture for super sharp photos in challenging bright and low light conditions.
The N86 was officially announced today on the second day of the MWC. Full specifications here.
